What’s covered in preventive care visits?

At OSVI Dermatology and Surgery Institute, we want you to feel informed and confident about your visit. Insurance coverage can sometimes vary depending on whether your appointment is considered preventive or diagnostic, so we’ve outlined the differences below.

What Is Preventive Care?

Preventive visits focus on maintaining healthy skin and detecting issues early — before symptoms appear. Some insurance plans cover certain preventive services at no cost to you.

What Is Diagnostic Care?

A visit becomes diagnostic when new symptoms, concerns, or existing skin conditions are evaluated or treated. Diagnostic services may apply toward your deductible, copay, or coinsurance depending on your plan.

If new concerns are addressed during your preventive appointment, your insurance may process the visit as diagnostic. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend reviewing your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) or contacting your insurance provider directly for specific benefit details.

Our team is always happy to help answer questions before your appointment. Please don’t hesitate to reach out — we are committed to transparency and providing the best possible care  experience.
